OTPs not being received during server login is the cause of the problem.
Nationwide, National Identity Card (NID) services have been temporarily halted.
The problem arose because the One-Time Passwords (OTP) needed to access the NID server were not sent.
ASM Humayun Kabir, Director General of the National Identity Registration Division, disclosed this information to the media on Tuesday.
The director general stated: “A one-time password must be supplied after the user ID and password to access the server. But as of right now, the OTP is not being received. As a result, NID services are temporarily suspended, and officials and staff cannot access the server. Nonetheless, the procedures for obtaining biometrics and capturing pictures are still in progress.
“This is not because of a server issue,” he added. There is a system issue with the OTP service provider that the Election Commission (EC) uses to run the NID services. The business is attempting to fix the issue. All services will resume as soon as the OTP-related problem is fixed.
Speaking with several EC staff at the field level, it was discovered that the lack of OTPs has prevented them from offering services to applicants since morning. They have been told that the problem should be fixed by noon.
